Palatine Township
2008 Adopt-A-Family Program

We have received a tremendous outpouring of generosity from our community again this year and we wish to thank each and every person and organization who adopted a family or families.  Due to this wonderful response to our call for help, we are pleased to advise you that all of the families referred to us for our Adopt 2008 Program is being served.  However, we still have a number of “Angels” on our trees. These trees are decorated with festive, handmade angel ornaments, which contain the name, age, and “gift wish” of a low-income child or senior citizen from our community.  Please consider stopping in at the Township and choosing an “Angel” or “Angels” from our trees.

Unfortunately, this does not mean that the vital needs of these and many other families in Palatine Township throughout the year have been met.  We hope that, in lieu of adopting a family or families this year, you will please consider making a contribution to our Needy Family Fund.  This 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit plan funded by private, tax-deductible contributions assists residents with emergency payments for rent, utilities, prescriptions, and essential items that cannot be funded through the General Assistance operating budget.

By mailing your check payable to the “Needy Family Fund” to Palatine Township Center, 721 S. Quentin Road, Suite 101, Palatine, IL 60067, you can still make a difference in your neighbors’ lives not just during this holiday season, but throughout the year.

As another avenue to assistance, while you are shopping, the purchase and donation to us of gift cards to local grocery stores, pharmacies and other retailers in denominations no larger than $25 each will help us assist residents who are facing economic misfortunes with perishable groceries, fresh produce, prescriptions, and other personal essentials.  They also serve as a helpful adjunct to our Thanksgiving and Spring Basket, Adopt-A-Family and other outreach programs.

Cards can be mailed to or dropped off at the Township Center, 721 S. Quentin Road, Suite 101, Palatine, IL  60067, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or most Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

These small, pocket-sized cards can mean the difference between having to choose between medications and meat and being able to buy both.

“Thank You” and may you have a healthy, safe and joyous Holiday Season!
