Needy Family Fund

This not-for-profit plan funded by private, tax-deductible contributions assists residents with emergency payments for rent, utilities, prescriptions, and essential items that cannot be funded through the General Assistance operating budget.  Donations to the Needy Family Fund are gratefully accepted throughout the year (The Needy Family Fund is a 501(C) (3) tax-deductible fund) and can be made in one of two ways:

  • By mailing your check payable to the “Needy Family Fund” to Palatine Township Center, 721 S. Quentin Road, Suite 101, Palatine, IL  60067; or
  • By delivering your cash donation or check payable as above to the same address Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon

Gift Card Program

Gift Cards to local grocery stores, pharmacies and other retailers in denominations no larger than $25 each are helpful vehicles through which we can assist residents who are facing economic misfortunes with perishable groceries, fresh produce, prescriptions, and other personal essentials throughout the year.  They are also a helpful adjunct to our Thanksgiving and Spring Basket, Adopt-A-Family and other outreach programs.

The next time you are shopping for your family, please purchase a gift card for your neighbors in need and mail it to or drop it off at the Township Center, 721 S. Quentin Road, Suite 101, Palatine, IL  60067, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

These small, pocket-sized cards can mean the difference between having to choose between medications and meat and being able to buy both.

The Palatine Township Food Pantry

Our Pantry is a source of nutrition that serves senior citizens, the disabled and low-income families and individuals with non-perishable food on a once-per-month basis.  Presently, the Pantry is assisting approximately 180 families a month.  Most of the food in the Pantry comes from donations by individuals and food drives sponsored by schools, churches, civic groups, and businesses.

Food drives are always needed to keep the Pantry shelves stocked, (for creative ideas click here), but each and every individual donation adds up, enabling us to fulfill our mission.

The demand for food from the Palatine Township Food Pantry goes on year ‘round, and we gratefully accept all non-perishable food and monetary donations at the Palatine Township Center, 721 S. Quentin Road, Palatine.  Our hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon.  Those delivering large quantities, such as donations through food drives, are asked to call the Food Pantry prior to delivery at (847) 358-6700 to assist us in making the necessary arrangements.

At this time, we are particularly low on the following items:  Tomato Products (e.g., Canned Tomatoes, Tomato Sauce, and Tomato Paste), Spaghetti Sauce, Peanut Butter, Jelly, Crackers, Cereal, Jell-O, Oatmeal and Muffin/Cake Mix, Rice, Macaroni & Cheese, Tuna Fish, Canned Fruit and Vegetables..
